Awakenings Series • Reiki: The Ancient Healing Art

.Awakenings of the Mind, Body and Spirit2016 series of monthly programs at Petit Branch Library.Please join us for an opportunity to experiment with different methods of self knowledge, awareness, and healing. Practitioners and experts from our community will present interactive programs on topics such as meditation, herbs, Qigong, Reiki, chanting, and more. Presenters include Marie Summerwood, Dolores Card, Debra Lee Gertz, and others.Programs will take place on the fourth Monday of every month at 6 p.m.• • • Reiki: The Ancient Healing ArtMonday, August 22, at 6 p.m.Reiki, a therapeutic touch, is a holistic technique that continues to grow as a significant and respected remedial practice. It is a source of comfort by helping to release emotional trauma as well as aiding the body to relieve pain and hasten physical healing.The basic concepts and principles of Reiki will be introduced. Specific hand positions to utilize Reiki energy will be demonstrated and will be practiced during the workshops. Students will then be able to perform Reiki on themselves as well as others. These two consecutive workshops will certify attendees as Reiki Level I practitioners. Certificates will be given at the end of the second training. Registration required NDolores Card has taught metaphysical principles and doctrines through classes, seminars, and workshops, as well as Reiki certification, for 25 years. She is a Reiki master, ecumenical minister, and spiritual advisor. Her professional career included working with victims of sexual assault at the Syracuse Rape Crisis Center for 15 years
