Hawley-Green: Art Exhibit
Hosted by: Petit Branch Hours: Friday, April 1, 2016 from 9:00 AM to 9:00 AM Summary: .As an artist and a photographer, Andrea Hall often sees the world through a different lens than other people. Until recently, she never truly realized how that applies to the neighborhood sheâs lived in for over twenty years. We, the residents of the Hawley-Green area of Syracuse, are a very diverse group. We are a potpourri of ethnicities; we are professionals, students, and laborers; we are old âmain lineâ Americans and refugees; we are gay, straight, bi and trans. But we mix well to make up that distinctive flavor which is Hawley-Green. The bulk of the populace is young; most of the architecture is old. Curlicues, friezes, gingerbread scrollwork, fishscale shingles, pediments, columns, transoms -- all combine to make some magnificent Victorian and Queen Anne homes. This photographic show is her attempt to increase the appreciation of our very special neighborhood by folks beyond its boundaries.
