WCNY's Director of Education and Community Development, Debbie Stack, presents this program which will include an overview of the Ken Burn's Vietnam documentary that was first broadcast in September and is being broadcast throughout the fall. The overview will highlight key stories in the series featuring service-people, the Vietnamese perspective, media and journalism, leadership, civilian life, the anti-war movement, veterans coming home and more. Following the overview viewing, Debbie will lead attendees in a discussion on some stories and memories of that time period that WCNY has collected from Central New Yorkers. These include not only military experiences but memories of what was happening on the homefront. Veterans and citizens attending the program are encouraged to offer their own stories and memories, or ask questions of those at the program who experienced the Vietnam era first hand. This program is being offered in honor of all U.S. veterans in recognition of Veteran's day. Each veteran in attendance will receive a token of appreciation. Guests are encouraged to tune into WCNY beginning on September 17 to watch the 18-hour series, however, it is not necessary for participation in this program.
